Financial Analysis – What’s behind your numbers?

There are many CPA/accounting firms, business consulting firms, and financial management firms in today’s marketplace – it is truly a competitive field. How then, do you, as a business owner, differentiate them from one another, and more importantly, how do you figure out who can best support you if that is something you think your business needs?

CPN & Associates was built on Carol Nolan’s 30+ years of experience in the finance world, which defined her analytical career. She analyzed the financial statements of all sorts of companies, to determine if they were healthy investments. Her analysis led her to uncover many issues that thwarted growth prospects for some of these companies, giving her the opportunity to strategize with the business owners, to turn these issues into positive scenarios. CPN’s business was founded on this type of financial review and analysis, using each company’s own financial data as the baseline for analysis and strategic decision-making.

How do we do this?

We review all sorts of company financial data and work on the specific “pain points” that we find through our initial analytical work. Here are just 3 of many scenarios:

  1. Efficiency Analysis - Why would a company have a strong revenue stream but little profit to show for it?  The answer often lies in the way the Owner has structured the company’s work environment – this would show up in the overall financials if we conducted a detailed analysis of employee productivity.

  2. Review of Sales & Sales Profitability trends for recommended changes to a company’s sales commission structure.  Remember, any procedure is only as good as its ongoing results.  If you sense your current sales commission structure is not giving you/your sales team the incentives required to meet sales goals, it’s time for a complete review.

  3.  Revenue Generation - Analysis of revenue generated from the current student population of a Music Academy gave us the ability to detail a financial and marketing strategy to push this business into realizing much higher revenue and profit goals than their current trends dictated.

How does this help you?

If you are sensing that your business may be lagging its competition, that your employees aren’t as efficient as they could be, or that your profits aren’t fully covering your expenses, a review of your financial data will give you answers to these questions so that you can implement the changes needed to turn these issues around into more positive trends. CPN’s data analytics and financial reviews can uncover the reasons for these issues and work with you to solve them and bring your company into a more profitable growth position.
